Because of my Ryanair/airport mix up, I had a morning to spend and I didn't want to just sit in the airport. The GlasgowFlyer bus got me to Glasgow, right down town, Click to read more about my morning in Glasgow. The bus got my wife and I down town in about twenty minutes. There are a number of drop off points, but we got off at the train station. Judy, my wife, thought it was great fun that so many places had the name Clyde on them. This is because the big river there is the river Clyde. There used to be a lot of ship building right here, but we did not have time to tour that area of the city. We headed toward the shopping area, which is only a few blocks from the train station and just up from the river bank. While the outside of the buildings look very classic, there is a lot of retailing going here that you would be familiar with. Even in the morning there were lots of people moving about, and lots of tourists. What was most interesting is almost every time I looked at my map, someone asked me if I needed help! The locals are very friendly. This is the Glasgow train station, which is all enclosed with these traditional looking buildings inside. The retailing was mostly food related, so easy to stop in a grab a something at M&S. |
